After departing from Yoshimoto Kogyo (Yoshimoto Art),
she resonated with our philosophy and has been serving
as an artistic director.
I was deeply impressed by Mr. Nishiura's establishment of the Nishiura Foundation for Children, which aims to nurture the sincere hearts and gratitude of children and connect them to the future. This profound inspiration led me to accept the role of artistic director.
Since I quit nursing ten years ago to start my activities as an artist, Mr. Nishiura has provided continuous support and purchased numerous pieces of my artwork. With that funding, we have organized art workshops for children in 20 countries worldwide, provided braille machines and toothbrushes to schools for the blind in Asia, and donated gifts to children at the German International Peace Village.
A few years ago, when I reported to Mr. Nishiura about my activities at children's homes in Hokkaido and Okinawa, he said, "Let's send Christmas presents to the children at those facilities!" Since then, he has continued to send Christmas presents every year. I am deeply grateful for this and have learned once again the importance of "continuous support and persistent effort."
From now on, together with the foundation, I have high hopes for activities to nurture children's dreams, hopes, and pure hearts. I aspire to continue my activities as an artistic director to heal the "invisible wounds of the heart" through art, so that all children can have dreams and realize them, and so that children around the world can smile, even if only for a moment.
